Ted Houghton Street Reconstruction Project

Ted Houghton Street Reconstruction Project

This roadway reconstruction project spanned from Double Jay Drive to Rancho Trails Drive, covering a distance of 0.25 miles.

The reconstruction efforts involved the removal and replacement of existing pavement, sidewalks, driveways, curb and gutter sections, and the installation of ADA accessible curb ramps. The project also featured drainage enhancements, including a water seepage and drainage well infiltration system. Additionally, approximately 350 linear feet of retaining rock was replaced with new single-sided stamped concrete retaining wall structures along Lots 5 through 9 of Block 584.

CQC collaborated with the design consultant to develop remediation measures for several issues, including subsurface water seepage, pavement structure cracking, and lateral movement of residential walls. CQC conducted a geophysical seismic survey to identify subsurface soil formations, complemented by soil boring exploration and testing. The testing revealed the presence of flowing water above fat clays and identified deficient rock wall foundations. Remediation efforts involved the design of a subsurface drainage system and a new cantilever wall.

Throughout the construction phase, CQC continued to provide Construction Materials Testing (CMT) services and monitoring inspection services. This included observing the implementation of the design and promptly addressing issues through both verbal and written communication. CQC's active involvement contributed to the effective management of change orders and adherence to the project schedule.
